BEEFEATER

BEEFEATER

BEEFEATER

Beefeater is the world’s number one premium gin, exported to over 100 countries and with annual sales of 2.4 million nine-litre cases. It is the number one premium gin in Spain and number three premium gin in the USA – the world’s largest premium gin market. English soldiers and sailors first encountered gin as ‘Genever’1 in the 1600s during the Thirty Years War. Returning home, they brought a taste for it with them, and by the end of the century, there were over 40 distillers in London. Beefeater’s origins stretch back to 1820’s when John Taylor and his wife founded a small distillery in Chelsea, London. It was this distillery that James Burrough, the founder of Beefeater gin, bought in 1863 to launch his creation – the now world-renowned gin made according to a unique production process. A trained pharmacist and son of a tea merchant, Burrough had used his knack for combining flavours with alcohol, developing a secret gin recipe, distinct in style and flavour. Burrough was looking for a suitable name that would personify the full-bodied gin and have a strong association with the capital. Soon he found inspiration in the nearby Yeoman Warders, also known as ‘Beefeaters’, who have guarded the Tower of London since 1485 and are considered traditional symbols of the capital. The result was the “Beefeater London Dry Gin”, every bottle of which bears the image of “Beefeaters” till nowadays. In 1963 Beefeater had become the biggest export gin in the world, accounting for 3 out of every four bottles of gin imported to the US. And in 1969, it was the only gin on board the maiden voyage of the Queen Elizabeth II liner to New York. In 2005 Beefeater gin was acquired by Pernod Ricard Group. However, the strong traditions, the unique production process and the carefully guarded secret recipe of the beverage have virtually remained unchanged. Being made in London is something this outstanding beverage is incredibly proud of, and out of all London style gins, it is now the only globally recognized gin to still be made in the capital. Every one of the 2.4 mln, 9 litre cases produced for sale worldwide is made behind the doors of its distillery. Buy Beefeater London Dry Gin at VINO&VINO store and enjoy free delivery in Yerevan.
