CHÂTEAU TEYSSIER

CHÂTEAU TEYSSIER

CHÂTEAU TEYSSIER

Château Teyssier, in the heart of the Saint-Emilion appellation, dates back to the 1700’s. In 1994, it was acquired by Jonathan Maltus, an Englishman by way of South Africa, and a pioneer in the 'garagiste' revolution of the 1990's. When Maltus acquired the property, the vineyard was just fourteen acres and the estate was in need of renovation. Today, Teyssier is nearly ten times its former size and has a state-of-the-art winery. A large part of the vineyards are situated amongst Cru Classe terroir on the hills hugging the village of Saint Emilion. The Chateau produces eight Saint-Emilion wines, ranging from the estate wines Château Teyssier and Château Laforge, as well as limited-release single vineyard wines Le Dome, Le Carre, Les Asteries, and Vieux Chateau Mazerat. Maltus has also ventured into Napa Valley, with single-vineyard wines produced under the World's End label.
