The Château du Cléray / Maison Sauvion winery is located in the heart of the vineyards of Nantes. Château du Cléray was acquired by Ernest Sauvion in 1935. With its historic vaulted cellars, the château is one of the oldest estates in the Muscadet Sèvre et Maine vineyards. The estate owns 95 hectares of vineyards with a rich terroir characterized by flinty-clay soils. From the very beginning, Maison Sauvion has worked to give its Muscadet wines a true “noble pedigree,” contributing to the recognition and enhancement of the appellation. Today, Maison Sauvion exports more than 60% of its wines to over 80 countries worldwide, making it an ambassador for the Nantes wine region. The winery is currently managed by Pierre-Jean Sauvion. Raised in the world of wine from an early age and passionate about wine culture, Pierre-Jean is a professional oenologist who graduated from the University of Bordeaux. After his studies, he gained winemaking experience in California, Australia, Alsace, Cahors, and Bordeaux before returning to the family estate, Château du Cléray, in 2004. Today, Pierre-Jean, a true “creator of pleasure,” crafts the wines of Maison Sauvion to the delight of wine lovers and in celebration of the Muscadet Sèvre et Maine appellation.
