Perched on the top of slopes overlooking the river Dordogne, close to the village of St-Emilion, Château Laroque is an estate based around a medieval manor house. It still retains its 12th century tower, but the rest was rebuilt in the 17th century in the typical architectural style of Louis XIV – hence the château’s nickname of 'Little Versailles'. Today it is the largest estate in St-Emilion, boasting 61 hectares from which only 27 hectares of the best plots and oldest vines are used for production of Château Laroque Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé.
